the woman, a photo by ArtbyLaw on Flickr.
I painted two more on wood but much bigger. Well not too much bigger... 12 3/8 by 8 by 3/8 inches, and they are ready to hang. Here I did a floating mount. The wall hook push the painting out a bit; so, I placed a piece of foam to the bottom to bring it away from the wall just like the top! It's easy to do and not permanent. The painting is the same size and was going to be a sister, but I can't control what happens in the creative process. It is a woman too, but the color is a little different.

tears of joy, a photo by ArtbyLaw on Flickr.
This painting is by Ega. She calls it "Tears of Joy", but at the moment, I can only feel tears of frustration for my fellow Americans while thinking about our government. Why do they spend all of their time (mostly) spreading their wings, hopping up and down and screeching like meat crazed vultures. Do they think that the public likes to see a pissing contest? What we pay them to do is to work out plans that will benefit the people who put them in office. It's not just America, but this insanity occurs all over the world. It's time for a revolution!
Since the beginning of my art career, I have had several people contact me who commented on my art or who wanted to talk about art in general. Recently, it came to me that I should publish some of these comments. Now, not all of these comments came freely, this post is about someone who I asked to make a comment. Every once and awhile an artist has a person who stops by and really enjoys your art. Not only do they enjoy your art, but they start buying everything you paint. Aleta is one of those people who likes to collect art. She's from Canada. I asked her from all the paintings she bought from me which one does she like the best. She said, "As an avid collector of Ken Law's art, it has been a difficult challenge to find one piece that calls to me more than the others…but in the end, one has won out. I have chosen my favorite-it is 'Look West'."

Why? "Living on the west coast of Canada, surrounded by First Nations totems and culture, this image reminds me of the totem culture that is theirs. I love the colours, the images, the “feel” of the piece. It brings me to a place of joy and wonder every time I look at it. Incredible!" Thank you Aleta for sharing your comments. It's always nice to have someone to share their comments. Please, if any of you would like to share, simply contact me.
On behalf of my wife and her art and mine, we would like to say Thank You so much for adding a part of us to your family.

negotiating the future, a photo by ArtbyLaw on Flickr.
Wow I feel really good about this first painting I got done just a few days ago. I've been working on it for a few weeks. Just doing a little here and a little there at least until the idea emerges from my brain. If you take a problem that you don't know how to fix, just quit thinking about it. Your mind will start working out the problem without you really knowing it. That works in art as well. When I started it, I really loved the color combination but couldn't get any images from it. So, once a week I would take a look at it and nothing else. The second week I would add some color here and there.... Finally, it was like a flash of light and a blinding idea and off to the races.... Here it is... Negotiating the Future.
This second canvas painting had nothing in common with the first. It was so appearant for me. It was finish in less than a week. :)

Things around here are starting to slow down giving me time to do some work. Here are some of my new paintings. These are on paper. "Fingering the thought" is a mixture of paint pens and acrylic.
